Thank you for expressing an interest in the Caddo Middle Magnet Archery Team.  Archery is a sport that appeals to a large number of students with varying interests and backgrounds. It also provides all students the opportunity to participate in a competitive sporting event. Across the country, National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) has exploded in popularity and stories abound regarding increased student attendance, positive school behavior, and increased self-esteem for students involved in archery programs.

Archery  Team
 – We want everyone to get a chance to learn and enjoy archery.   That being said, we will have a competitive archery team and to shoot well, good attendance is a must.  We know many events will cause students to miss practice, but remember we are preparing to compete. To shoot well, it takes a lot of time.  If we want to have a successful team, we have to put in the time.

Practices:  Tuesday and Thursday 3:00 – 4:30
Practice will begin Tuesday, October 24th

Pick up - Parents are responsible for transportation after practice. We will dismiss promptly outside in front of the flagpole.  Students must be picked up no later than 4:45.  Thank You!!

Safety – Practices will be conducted according to the NASP guidelines.  Safety is the number one objective.  Students will show mastery of the safety rules and procedures prior to using any archery equipment.  Students will be taught proper form, safety rules and general knowledge of the equipment.  Students will be expected to adhere to all safety rules and follow guidelines on care of the equipment.
Anyone ignoring or not following expectations may be sidelined from the activity temporarily, and if it continues, they will not be allowed to continue.   No running, horse play, fighting, etc…

Equipment- NASP requires that all students who participate in the program use standardized equipment in order to make competition fair for everyone.  Students must use a Genesis™ Compound Bow by Mathews and Easton arrows.  Sights and other modifications to the equipment are NOT allowed.  Students may provide their own equipment for the program; however, there will be school-owned equipment available for students to use during practice and tournaments.

Fee
– There will be a cost associated with being on the team.  We are in the process of determining fees for tournaments, team shirts, and equipment.  We will notify you when this fee has been determined.

Tournaments –
2018 ALAS North Regional Tournament - February 3, 2018
                                  2018 ALAS State Tournament – March 3, 2018
Both the North Regional and State Tournament will be held in Shreveport.
We will also compete in local tournaments.  We will share that information with you when it becomes available.
