NEWS - LA Elem. and Junior High State Cross Country Championships - October 20, 2012
Congratulations to State Champ runners up 7th & 8th Grade Girls Team and State Champ runners up 6th Grade Boys Team! CMM XC runners competed with nearly 400 runners representing 30 teams from across the state at the Louisiana Elementary and Jr. High Cross Country Championship, held at Brown Stadium at the University of Louisiana, Monroe. CMM XC runners were impressive with Top Ten individual performances again on both the girls and boys teams and state champion runners up for both the 7th & 8th Grade Girls Team and the 6th Grade Boys Team. Individual results include 8th Grade Maggie Weldon (10:02) finishing 8th; 6th Grade Georgia Hilburn (6:59) finishing 8th; 6th Grade Allen England (6:10) fnishing 3rd; and 6th Grade Cade Bailey (6:38) fnishing 8th. The 7th & 8th Grade Girls Team was led by Maggie Weldon; Julia Brown (10:36); Tess Layton (10:41); Shelby Sibert (10:56); and Meg Brown (11:01). Also running with strong finishes were Lucia Boyd (11:58); Megan Arbuckle (12:12); and Allison Howell (13:10). The 6th Grade Boys were led by Allen England, Cade Bailey, Dominic Curnutte (6:42); Timothy Oliver (7.24); and Samuel Vickers (8:05). The 6th Grade Girls Team missed 2nd place by 2 POINTS!! Running hard for the 6th Grade Girls Team were Georgia Hilburn; Mia Cook (7:01); Anna Davis (7:47); and Erin Defee (8:42); The 7th & 8th Grade Boys Team placed 8th in the meet and was headed up by Tyler Fuller-Pierce (9:34); Zach O'Rear (10:21); Robert Brown (10:34); Landry Reeks (10:56); Brett Pierce (10:59); Jackson Harris (11:00); Kyle Kaltenbach (11:13); Brandon Fuller-Pierce (11:19); Ethan Arbuckle (11:19); Garrett Welch (11.21); and Hank Turnage (11:34). Remember, the 7th & 8th grade teams ran 1.5 mile, while the 6th grade teams ran 1.0 mile. Click on the above file for the official race results.
REMEMBER: We will NOT be running in the Ruston meet as a team this weekend as discussed. Instead, I am still hoping to get us registered as a team for this weekend's Fiest-Weller Cancer Center "Great Pumpkin Run for Research." I have not heard the official news to date (10/23 at 2:30 p.m.), and I will keep you posted as soon as I do. If we cannot register as a team (i.e., minimal $$), then I still encourage each of you to register individually through sportspectrum. You can do so at www.sportspectrumusa.com and the cost is $20 through 10/26; race day $25.

News - Centenary Invitatioal - October 6, 2012
CMM XC runners are AWESOME. They braved the windy and COLD Centenary Coss Country Invitational on Saturday, October 6, 2012, held near the Stoner Boat Marina on Clyde Fant Parkway and Stoner Avenue. Several other middle schools were represented by one or two runners, but CMM was clearly the toughtest team around with 29 runners who dominated the 2-mile grass course. News - Byrd Invitational - September 29, 2012
CMM Cross Country Team made an awesome, very spirited showing (34 runners) at the 2012 C.E. Byrd Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 29, 2012. The meet was HUGE with schools from all over LA and east TX, and the course was a challenging 2.0 miles of dirt, grass, gravel, rocks and pavement. CMM girls and boys teams brought home 1st Place team trophies. Special shout out to Mia Cook,Georgia Hilburn, Allen Englnd, Tyler Fuller, and Alex Spier, who were all top 10 finishers and received "Top 10" t-shirts. News - Gator Run - September 22, 2012
CMM Cross Country Team thanks Captain Shreve High School for invting the team to participate in the Gator Run, a 5K event at Lee Hedges Stadium on Saturday, September 22, 2012. Our team made a good showng. Congats to Alexis Bogues (6th Grade), Allen England (6th Grade) and Tyler Fuller (7th Grade) who all turned in top times and received awards for their efforts. Many of our runners also turned in personal best times. Nice job!
News - Calvary Baptist Invitational - September 15, 2012
Congrats to our CMM Cross Country Team for a fantastic performance at the season opener at the Calvary Baptist Invitational on Saturday, September 15th. We had 52 runners on a tough, muddy course.
Junior High Division Top 10 Overall in 1.5 mile run

General Information about Cross Country
What: Team-oriented, individual sport for 6th, 7th and 8thgrade girls and boys; promoting endurance and physical fitness; representing CMM at area-wide cross-country races after school and on some Saturday mornings.
Where: CMM track on south side of school near bus loop.
Practice: Mondays & Thursdays - 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm (through October)
Tryouts: Final Tryout 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm - Thursday,September 6, 2012
Qualifications:
· Qualifying run of 1 mile in less than 10:00 minutes
· Complete Waiverand LSHAA Medical History Evaluation links below:
