How do I drop my child off at the beginning of school?
  • Do not drop off students before 7:40 a.m.  Students may be dropped off in the carpool line in front of the school or through our parking
lot on the north side of the campus.
  • Buses will pick up and drop off students using the south driveway.  No car traffic is permitted on this driveway.  Bus locations will be posted each afternoon.
  • Car traffic may use the traffic circle in the front of the school on Cornelious.  Cars may go straight after pulling on to Cornelious or may
    turn left.
  • Car traffic will enter the north parking lot in a double line in the morning and drop students off at the flagpole.  Cars will merge into one line as they
leave the parking lot.  Cars MUST turn right on Cornelious.  No left turns allowed.
  • Car traffic in the afternoon will enter the north parking lot in a double line and pull all the way around the lot.  Cars will merge into a single line as
they leave the parking lot.  Cars must turn right on to Cornelious.  No left turns allowed.
  • Please be aware that Cornelious must be a free access street.  The city has placed No Parking signs along the street. Cars parking along Cornelious, Hoover, Turner, and·Terrell block traffic, block residential driveways, create a traffic hazard, and place students at risk as they cross the street to reach their car or the
    school.
  • The south parking lot will not be used for picking-up or dropping-off students.

When I come to Caddo Middle Magnet, do I need to sign in?
Yes. All visitors must report to the school office and wear the visitor’s pass.

What should I do if my child is going to be late to school?
Your child will be considered tardy if he/she is not in their seat or assigned place when the tardy bell rings.

If I want my child to be dismissed early, what should I do?
NO CHECK-OUTS AFTER 3:00 P.M.  After arriving at school, students must not leave the school grounds for any reason during the school day without first reporting to the office and securing permission. If a student becomes ill and wishes to go home, he/she must obtain a note from the teacher to bring to the office for parent contact.  The office staff will supervise the checkout process. The parent will come to the office  to pick up the student and to sign him/her out. Individuals must show a photo ID to check-out any student.  Only parents or guardians can give authorization for others to check out students.  A doctor’s note for a checkout for illness that is initiated by the office staff is not required for the day of the checkout but is required for any additional days.  Doctors’ notes are required for checkouts for doctors’ appointments.  In the event of an emergency, no student will be checked out without parent permission in writing.  Carpool parents cannot take children other than their own without this notification. Parents should inform the office staff through the counselor whenever legal custody conditions warrant such notice.  Documentation must be on file in the cumulative record.

How do I get my child's homework when he/she has been absent?
Check Canvas.

When my child returns to school after being absent, what should I do?
Please send in a note with the student's name, date(s) of absence and reason for absence (attach doctor’s excuse if needed). This note needs to be delivered to the office.

If I want my child to ride a different bus or carpool home, what should I do?
A note must be sent to the school office explaining the change in departure.  A bus pass must be issued from the school office if your child will be riding a different bus home.  Note: This procedure is to be used in both long term situations (such as riding to a grandparent’s house each day) and short term situations (such as going to a friend’s house one afternoon.)

What if I need to bring something to my child that he/she forgot at home?
Items may be brought to our school office.  Students will not be called down to pick up an item.

What if my child is going to a school dance?  What do I do?
Attending a CMM dance is a PRIVILEGE.  Dances are not being scheduled at this time.  Students are expected to remain at the dance until 4:00 p.m.  Parents who arrive before the end of the dance must come into the gymnasium to pick up their student.  Parents are expected to pick their child up at 4:15 p.m. Students who are not picked up promptly (within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the dance) will not be allowed to attend future dances.  Students will not be allowed to call home on the day of the dance to get permission to remain at school for the dance.  Plans should be made ahead of time.

How often are report cards sent home?
Report cards are issued at the end of the 9 weeks throughout the year.  Parents may check a student’s grade through JCampus
(https://jgrade.caddoschools.org/jpweb).  The final report card of the year is mailed from the Caddo Parish School Board approximately one week after the end of school.

How do I go about scheduling a Parent-Teacher Conference?
Conferences are scheduled by contacting the appropriate school counselor.  If you would like to schedule a conference with any administrative staff, please contact the school office at 868-6588.

What is the school’s dress code?
Students are to dress in apparel that is modest, tasteful, and that does not interfere with or distract from the education process or the rights of others.  Students and their clothing must be neat, clean, well groomed, and must meet the following guidelines:

  • Face masks must be worn.
  • Attire must not be destructive to school property.
  • For health reasons, shoes must be worn.  Hosiery is required with closed shoes.  Shower shoes, slides, or house shoes are not to be worn.
  • Pants, shorts, or skirts must be worn at the waist.  No “sagging” is permitted.  Transparent or breakaway type pants are not permitted.
  • Headwear or hair rollers are prohibited in the building.
  • Body piercing jewelry cannot be worn except in the ears.
  • Shirts, sweaters, jackets, and other tops worn over leggings must be no shorter than four inches from the top of the knee.  Skirt length should be no more than four inches from the top of the knee.
  • Sunglasses are prohibited in the building unless they are prescribed.
  • Bare midriffs, see-through garments, white undergarment type T-shirts, bare backs, halter-tops, tank tops, tube tops, or cutoffs cannot be worn.
  • There are to be no holes or tears that show skin through clothing on school campus.
  • The students may wear loose-fitting shorts that are no more than four inches from the top of the knee (front and back) when the student is standing.  All shorts must be hemmed.  Cutoff shorts, rolled-up jeans, pajama pants, sweats, athletic or spandex shorts cannot be worn.  No other article of clothing can be worn beneath shorts for viewing.
  • Blouses must cover the midriff when arms are raised.
  • Sleeveless blouses, shirts, and dresses must extend from the neck to the edge of the shoulder.
  • Obscene, profane language or provocative pictures on clothing or jewelry are prohibited.
  • Satanic, cult, or gang related symbolism in any form is prohibited.
  • Drug related symbols in any form, including advertisements or promotion of alcohol or tobacco, are prohibited.

Principals, after consultation with their School Improvement Committee, have the discretion to adjust the dress code to fit unique situations as long as the decision does not interfere with the requirements of Title IX.

How are parents involved?
The administration and faculty of CMM consider themselves to be partners with parents, the primary educators of their children.  Research suggests that one characteristic of an effective school is strong parent involvement; the stronger the parent involvement, the stronger the school--provided all the other essential elements are in place. The support and assistance of parents, therefore, is essential to the success of the integrated educational program provided by the school.

We have a strong PTA and encourage you to become involved.  We value the contribution our parents make at CMM, and we consider both a vital part of our fine school, and of our success.
