When I come to Caddo Middle Magnet, do I need to sign in?
Yes. All visitors must report to the school office, sign in on the computer, and wear the visitor’s pass.
What should I do if my child is going to be late?
Your child will be considered tardy if he/she is not in their seat or assigned place when the tardy bell rings. You and your child should come to the office to receive a tardy slip.
If I want my child to be dismissed early, what should I do?
After arriving at school, students must not leave the school grounds for any reason during the school day without first reporting to the office and securing permission. If a student becomes ill and wishes to go home, he must obtain a note from the teacher to bring to the office for parent contact. The office staff will supervise the checkout process. The parent will come to the office to pick up the student and to sign him/her out. When a student returns from a checkout, an “admit” will be issued by the office staff. Parents who are not known by the office staff will be required to identify themselves for the student’s safety. Only parents or guardians can give authorization for others to check out students. A doctor’s note for a checkout for illness that is initiated by the office staff is not required for the day of the checkout but is required for any additional days. Doctors’ notes are required for checkouts for doctors’ appointments. In the event of an emergency, no student will be checked out without parent permission in writing. Carpool parents cannot take children other than their own without this notification. Parents should inform the office staff through the counselor whenever legal custody conditions warrant such notice. Documentation must be on file in the cumulative record.

These absences are excused by a practicing physician, authorizing agency, or the CPSB.
How do I get my child's homework when he/she has been absent?
Parents may request a child’s homework assignments after the child has been absent for three (3) consecutive days. You may request additional assignments following the completion of previously assigned work. You need to call 868-6588 prior to 10 a.m. Parents may pick up the student’s assignments after 2:30 p.m. and before 3:30 p.m. in the school office. (Due to HIPAA Law, we can no longer accept faxed medical excuses because of student confidentiality.) These absences will not count against the total number of days students must be present at school.
When my child returns to school after being absent, what should I do?
Please send in a note with the student's name, date(s) of absence and reason for absence (attach doctor’s excuse if needed). This needs to be handed in to the homeroom teacher.
What if my child is sick and won’t be at school today?
When a student is absent from school, parents should contact Mrs. Hay in the main office (868-6588) between 7:50 and 8:30 a.m. on the day the student will be absent. When a student is absent from school for the entire day, the student should bring an excuse to the Stallion Round-up teacher or the office on the day in which he/she returns. If the student checks in or out during the day, the student should take the excuse to the office. The student returning to school must bring a written excuse containing the student’s name, the date(s) of absence and reason for absence with a doctor’s signature. If a doctor’s note is unavailable, a written note signed by the parent should be sent. Forged excuses will result in disciplinary action. If siblings see the doctor at the same time, parents must bring an individual doctor’s note for each student.
If I want my child to ride a different bus or carpool home, what should I do?
A note must be sent to the school office explaining the change in departure. A bus pass must be issued from the school office if your child will be riding a different bus home. How are parents involved?
The administration and faculty of CMM consider themselves to be partners with parents, the primary educators of their children. Research suggests that one characteristic of an effective school is strong parent involvement; the stronger the parent involvement, the stronger the school--provided all the other essential elements are in place. The support and assistance of parents, therefore, is essential to the success of the integrated educational program provided by the school.
We have a strong PTA and encourage you to become involved. We value the contribution our parents make at CMM, and we consider both a vital part of our fine school, and of our success.

What sports are available for my child at CMM?
CMM sponsors golf, tennis, track, and softball. All other sports including football and basketball, as well as all spirit groups are sponsored by the PTSA. I signed a contract for this year. What is required to return to CMM? To remain a student at Caddo Middle Magnet, students must average a 2.0 GPA in final grades, pass English and mathematics, and maintain acceptable behavior and attendance standards. No re-testing is required. Selection of courses by students is sent home in February for parent signature and returned to the school for scheduling for the following fall semester. Students are allowed to request changes in course selections if they have parent approval. After May 18th, courses are considered a commitment for the next school year. Contracts will be sent home with students in the spring for parent signature. Signed contracts must be returned and kept on file in the counselors’ office. Contracts are binding for one year, provided re-entry requirements are met, with appeal for extenuating circumstances such as family transfer away from the city. In keeping with the school mission statement, the Staff Council/SBLC will meet with the administrative and counseling staff in May to consider behavior patterns in determining whether or not each student with four or more referrals for disciplinary action will be invited to return to Caddo Middle Magnet. Students who are dismissed for disciplinary reasons may not return to Caddo Middle Magnet. I am interested in my child being in the National Junior Honor Society. What are the admission standards? Seventh or eighth graders who maintain a cumulative 3.75 GPA the first, second, and third nine weeks of the current school year, participate in at least one community service activity within the current school year, who are current members of a CMM club, who have impeccable behavior, and meet all NJHS application deadlines will be considered for membership in CMM’s NJHS Chapter. More in-depth information is available upon request from Mrs. Nancy Nix, Sponsor.

Items remaining at Caddo Middle Magnet longer than one (1) week after the end of the current school year will be donated to charity or discarded. Will my child be assigned a school locker?

What is the school store and where is it located?

My child has lost his/her backpack or other personal item. Where might I find it? Unclaimed articles that are found on campus should be brought to the main office. Items remaining at Caddo Middle Magnet longer than one (1) week after the end of the current school year will be donated to charity or discarded. Will my child be assigned a school locker?
Each student is assigned a locker the first week of school. Lockers should be kept locked at all times. Only the person who uses the locker should know the combination. Students should report lockers that are jammed or not working properly to the front office.Lockers should be kept neat and free of excess paper. All items should be arranged so that the locker closes. Behavior Management Minor forms may be given for lockers that are not closed.
