I believe in a strong work ethic inside and outside the classroom for not only myself but also from my students. I also believe in dreaming. I believe if you can envision what you want, then you can and will achieve the things you desire. My goal each year is to be a better teacher than I was the previous year. I believe anything is possible if you have the will power and desire to go for what you want. I also believe you should be passionate about the things you desire. I am married without children, and I like to read leadership and mystery books. My favorite authors are John Maxwell and Mary Higgins Clark. I have a cat named Missy. During my free time I like to work in the yard and hang out with my husband. Email address is trishbratlie@gmail.com twbratlie@caddo.k12.la.us Email is the best way to contact me. It is important to me to have all of my students succeed and to help those who are "math-a-phobes" lose their fear of math. I obtained a B.S. from LaTech in Business Management, then returned to school to complete the necessary graduate and mathematics courses required to become a certifed secondary math teacher. My certification allows me to teach any math subject from 6th through 12th grades. I began teaching at Huntington High School, where I taught Algebras I and II. I later transferred to Caddo Middle Magnet, where I have taught Intro Algebra, Research and Study Skills, and remedial LEAP prep. In 2009 I achieved National Board Certification in early adolescent math (ages 11- 15). I believe that teaching and learning should be serious, but enjoyable, experiences for everyone involved. I am committed to my students, and I welcome input from them and their families. concerns. I have three pieces of advice for achieving success: (1) Work when you need to work, so you can play when you want to play. (2) You may never know the answer if you don't ask the question. (3) You don't have to like it; you just have to do it. My motto is... We are what we repeated do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit. (Aristotle)

And I LOVE teaching math! How can you get better than that? I grew up here in Shreveport and was valedictorian of my class at Byrd High School. I spent two years at Rhodes College in Memphis, but graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University in Atlanta. I originally taught 6th grade in Georgia. We moved back to Shreveport and I received my masters in gifted education from LSU-S. This is my 20th year at CMM. I have a wonderful husband, 4 grown children, all of whom came through Middle Magnet, and two great sons-in-law. We also have 4 cats, plus a "grand dog". In some ways, the animals help teach my class! I am a big Baylor University fan since 3 of my children graduated from there. I also teach 8th grade Sunday School at Broadmoor Baptist and am very involved with the youth ministry there. At CMM I sponsor, National Junior Honor Society and FCA. I was honored to be CMM's teacher of the year in 2002, going on to be a finalist at the Parish level. I was also named a state PTSA Educator of Distinction that year. I have been included in Who's Who of American Educators several times. My teaching partner and I have also received a $63,000 8g competetive grant from the state which helped put technology into
