Anderson, David Life Sciences 7th
Mr. Anderson teaches life science.
Daigle, Ginger Science 6th
Mrs. Daigle currently teaches middle school science. She graduated from LSUS and is currently working toward her Masters degree in Educational Leadership. Her husband, Bruce, is the Area Director of School Performance. She has one son, Andrew. He is employed with BestBuy in Bossier City and enjoys helping them provide their students with up to date software and computer supplies. She and her family believe that education is very important. Her educational philosophy reads as follows: We never know where our paths may take us. Our educational opportunities may be many or few. However, it is what you make of them that enable you to learn, continue to learn, and move on. President R.M. Nixon says it best, "If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere. A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits." Parent/Teacher communication is very important to the academic success of all students. Although she lives in Plain Dealing, she does not use that as an excuse. She wants her students to succeed and therefore she is available to tutor students up to 4 days a week or as the need arises. Please feel free to call her @ 272-0371 when you need her. By doing so, she can make arrangements to be available for you/your child. Tutoring is held in her classroom A-110. Students will need a parent note to enter the building. If you need her, see you there! Together, We Can Make a Difference!!

Dunn, Christine Life Science 7th and Life Sciences 7th Advanced
My name is Chris Dunn, and I have been teaching at Caddo Middle Magnet since August of 1993. I graduated from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 1993 with my BA in Elementary Education. I am certified by the state of Louisiana as “Highly Qualified” to teach middle school science. In 2004, I was named a Caddo Middle Magnet nominee for the Presidential Award of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. In 2008-2009, I represented Caddo Middle Magnet as Teacher of the Year, and I was honored to be one of the top three finalists for the district. Also in 2008-2009, I was named a Louisiana Educator of Distinction by the State PTA. I continue to further my education by participating in workshops and in-services to enhance my knowledge of teaching science.
I LOVE teaching Life Science, and I am looking forward to a dynamic year.
My Caddo email address is cdunn@caddo.k12.la.us

Filipek, Elizabeth Life Sciences 7th and Earth Sciences 8th
This is my 13th year teaching. I earned my BA at The University of Texas at Dallas and am certified in English and Science. I worked at an inner city middle school in Austin for 4 years then our family moved back to Shreveport. In Shreveport, I worked at one of our urban high schools for 6 years. After 6 years, I decided it was time to move back into middle school to help prepare students for their high school courses. This is my 3rd year at Middle Magnet and I enjoy each day.
I use Teacherweb to update parents and students as to the activities and topics to be covered each week. Many parents are part of the weekly email I send out. If you would like to join, simply email me at efilipek@caddo.k12.la.us and I will add you. I keep a list of important date on the board so the students see each day what is ahead of them.
I am married and we have 4 children

Howell, Natalie Science 6th Grade
My name is Natalie Howell. This is my fifth year teaching but my first year back after a 7 year hiatus. I have a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of New Orleans. Currently, I am halfway towards my Master of Arts in Teaching/Alternate Certification at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Previously, I taught 10th grade Biology I, 11th grade Chemistry, and 12th grade Biology II at St. Mary's School in Natchitoches. I also taught 6th and 7th grade math and 8th grade pre-algebra at St. Joseph School in Shreveport.
I have been married since 1995 to Jay, who is a practicing surgeon in Bossier. Together, we have four children. Shaye is a freshman at Byrd, and our triplets, Jack, Alex, and Kate, are 6th graders at CMM. I thoroughly enjoyed the last 7 years playing mom, including the last 3 working as a parent volunteer at CMM; however, it was time for me to return to my passion, teaching children about the wonders of science. It is my goal to instill a love for science in your children by introducing them to the amazing world around them. Hands-on activities will play a large role in this learning process.
If you have any questions, I can be reached via email at cmmhowell@gmail.com. You can also call the school office at 868-6588 and leave a message. My planning period is 7th hour so I will return your call at the end of the day. If you have not already done so, please sign up as a "parent" on my Edmodo page, www.edmodo.com/cmmhowell. You will need the parent code that your child has their Edmodo page to complete this process. This page will keep you apprised of upcoming tests and homework assignments.

Johnson, Megan Earth Sciences 8th
I graduated from LSU-S in 2006 with my Bachelor of Science and this was also the year that I joined the CMM family. It has been a wonderful experience that has made me strive to continue my own learnig. I have since continued my education by completing my alternative certification in secondary biology and middle school science in May 2009 from LSU-S and then my master's in counseling and guidance from LA Tech in 2012.
I love science and strive to pass on this love by incorporating as many hands-on activities as possible. You will be able to stay up to date with these activities as well as many others by continually checking edmodo. Edmodo is a very useful tool that I update on a weekly basis usually Friday. However if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at mjohnson1@caddo.k12.la.us Email is the best way to reach me but you may also call the office at 868-6588.
Mission For The Class: To expand students minds while getting them prepared for high school and beyond.

Pomeroy, Jean Earth Sciences 8th and Earth Sciences 8th Advanced
"Whatever we learn has a purpose and whatever we do affects everything and everyone else, if even in the tiniest way. Why, when a housefly flaps his wings, a breeze goes round the world; when a speck of dust falls to the ground, the entire planet weighs a little more; and when you stamp your foot, the earth moves slightly off its course. Whenever you laugh, gladness spreads like the ripples in a pond; and whenever you're sad, no one anywhere can be really happy. And it's much the same thing with knowledge, for whenever you learn something new, the whole world becomes that much richer." -Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth Having been born and raised in Illinois, with a few Wonder Bread years in Iowa, you're likely to hear words & phrases delivered in a strange accent. I'm still working on how to pronounce Ashley. After getting a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from LSU-S, I ran off and joined the Air Force. When I left that, I was in Minot ND, where winter temperatures often spend long periods below freezing (-40 keeps the riff-raff out). So I went back to college to keep warm. This degree was in Earth Science Education, which eventually brought me to CMM. We're starting my 11th year at CMM and which is sure to be one of the best. With my new dry-erase board and mounted projector, I plan to become even more proficient in the tech world. (I may come to my students for help on this.) I hope to spark some interest in you as we look at principles of Earth & Space Sciences. To keep me busy when not at CMM, I am owned by 2 cats - Rufus (the Grand Siamese) and Molley (the Tortie rescued by 6th graders 5 years ago). My Mom & I play Scrabble every chance we get. This past summer I visited Maine, Vermont & New Hampshire, which means I have traveled to and done something in all 50 states. And if it ever cools down here, I would love to play some golf. Travel, movies, reading -- put it all together and Life is Good! J. Pomeroy

"Theories guide. Experiments decide!" That is what this year is all about, experiments and the scientific method.
