CMM Tennis
Team Tennis began in Shreveport in 2001. Presently there are some 15 schools participating in the Tennis Program & there were some 275 youth that played team tennis in 2011.
Who may participate? Any public or private school. Simply ask your school if we can schedule a meeting to organize a team at your school.
Who runs the league? The league is organized by the Northwest Louisiana Community Tennis Association. The league is a parent-driven league, similar to little league baseball. We do have some teachers at select schools that organize & assist with the league.
What levels are available? We have levels from beginner to tournament level available.
Lessons? While the league is only for play, there are lessons at all facilities in the Shreveport/Bossier area. For the parents that would like to help their children, a Parent/Child Workshop is scheduled for January 19. Professional coaches will help you so that you can help your child play tennis. The Workshop is open to any parent who has a child signed up in the Team Tennis program.
When & where do they play? Play is in the afternoon during the week at one of the local tennis facilities. The school team tennis league will begin Feb 20, 2012.
What are the costs involved? League fees are $30 per person. Players must be a member of the USTA. (Junior membership is $19) We do offer monetary assistance for children in need!!
How do we begin? Contact Richard Verzaal at Querbes Tennis Center 318-673-7787. All registrations will be made online. Instructions are available at your school or at www.nwlacta.com.
